Installation Case: Large-Capacity Containerized Wastewater Treatment System in Extreme Cold Mountain Region

In remote mountainous regions of Central Asia, where sub-zero temperatures, frozen soil, and vast open terrain create extreme challenges, wastewater treatment requires more than conventional solutions. LiDing has successfully delivered and installed a large-capacity containerized wastewater treatment system to support a local medical facility, overcoming some of the toughest cold-climate engineering barriers.

Installation Case Containerized Wastewater Treatment System in Extreme Cold Mountain Region

Project Background

The project is located in a high-altitude, sparsely populated mountainous area characterized by long winters, extreme cold, and limited infrastructure. The primary objective was to treat hospital wastewater, which requires stable, reliable performance and strict discharge standards.

However, the environment posed multiple “frozen ground challenges,” including:

• Equipment operation under extreme low temperatures
• Pipeline freezing risks affecting system continuity
• Reduced microbial activity impacting biological treatment efficiency

Solution: Cold-Resistant Containerized System

To address these challenges, LiDing deployed a containerized wastewater treatment system with large daily capacity, integrating proven treatment processes and specialized cold-climate engineering.

The system adopts a mature AO biological process, ensuring effective removal of organic pollutants and nutrients. In addition, a sludge dewatering system is included, enabling integrated treatment with both pollutant reduction and sludge volume minimization.

Core Technologies for Extreme Cold

Two key technical innovations were implemented to ensure stable operation:

• Fully Insulated Container Structure
The system features a complete thermal insulation design, maintaining internal temperature and protecting equipment from external freezing conditions.
• Electric Heat Tracing for Pipelines
All critical pipelines are equipped with electric heat tracing technology, preventing freezing and ensuring continuous flow even in severe cold environments.

Together, these measures effectively solve operational challenges associated with frozen soil and low-temperature conditions.

Installation and Commissioning

The system was delivered as a modular container unit, allowing for efficient transportation and deployment in mountainous terrain. On-site, the LiDing project team worked under harsh weather conditions to complete installation and commissioning.

Comprehensive support included:

• On-site technical guidance during installation
• Hands-on training for local operators
• System optimization to adapt to local conditions

In addition, the system is integrated with LiDing’s proprietary remote monitoring platform, enabling real-time monitoring and operation management, ensuring long-term stability and reduced maintenance risks.

Performance and Results

Since commissioning, the wastewater treatment station has demonstrated excellent cold resistance and stable operation. Even in snow-covered conditions, the system continues to perform reliably.

Key outcomes include:

• Consistently clear, odor-free effluent
• Effluent quality exceeding expected discharge standards
• Stable system operation in extreme cold climates

The project has received strong recognition from the client, validating the effectiveness of LiDing’s solution in one of the most challenging environments.

Application Value

This case highlights how containerized, large-capacity wastewater treatment systems can successfully operate in extreme cold, mountainous regions. By combining advanced biological processes with specialized cold-climate engineering, LiDing provides a reliable solution for critical applications such as healthcare facilities in remote areas.
